About us
Croft Building and Conservation Limited has expanded steadily since it was established in 2002 and is now one of the leading building conservation specialist contractors in the Midlands and surrounding areas. The company has an annual turnover in the order of £10million. Croft is synonymous with high quality restoration work on historical buildings, and our highly experienced team is able to undertake virtually any work on stone, brick or timber framed buildings, including traditional internal finishings.
Croft undertakes conservation and restoration work on listed buildings, cathedrals and churches, castles and large estate houses as well as on smaller private houses and cottages. Schemes comprising alteration works and the construction of extensions in keeping with historical buildings have also been successfully completed. We have also gained a reputation for high quality work on the consolidation of ancient monuments. We cater for a diverse range of works - from minor repairs to complete refurbishment and restoration projects.
Skills
Conservation and restoration works to historical buildings is Croft's main area of expertise as it employs over 40 Stonemasons as well as lime plasterers, lead workers, roofers, bricklayers, carpenters and decorators - in all over 80 craftsmen experienced in traditional methods of construction. For trades where Croft does not have its own in-house skills (e.g. scaffolding, mechanical and electrical installations, thatched roofing and asbestos removal) it has developed close relationships with carefully selected specialist subcontractors, thus enabling Croft to undertake complete and significant projects as Principal Contractor.
Croft's reputation for quality relies on the experience and skills of its craftsmen and we are aware of the dwindling numbers of craftsmen and women possessing these qualities. We are committed to playing our part in addressing this issue by taking on apprentices and promoting other vocational training to ensure the continued development of craftsmen and women having traditional building craft skills.
Design and Build/Project Management
Croft is able to offer a full Design and Build service for schemes, from feasibility and initial survey through to completed project, if required. We work closely with Architects and Structural Engineers who are suitably experienced in all aspects of work on historical buildings - conservation and restoration as well as alterations and extensions.
